Helping children and young people reach their potential

WELCOME TO TRENT VALLEY CHILDREN’S PHYSIOTHERAPY

At Trent Valley Children’s Physiotherapy we understand how precious your children are to you and so we aim to provide the best possible care, whether this is a one off assessment and advice, a short burst of treatment, or regular therapy sessions.

The Trent Valley Children’s Physiotherapy service provides private, highly specialist assessment and treatment to children and young people living in South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.

How We Can Help

The Trent Valley Children’s Physiotherapy service is able to offer therapy for most paediatric conditions which affect a child’s physical well-being.

A few examples are listed below;

  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Acquired Brain Injury
  •  Developmental Delay
  •  Dyspraxia / Developmental  Co-ordination Disorder (clumsiness)

We Work With Your Schedule

The physiotherapy sessions are usually delivered within your own home as this is where your child is likely to be most relaxed which helps to ensure that they will get the most out of their therapy. Weekend and evening sessions are offered to help fit in with your busy lifestyle.

Treatments We Offer

Trent Valley Children’s Physiotherapy is able to offer a wide range of specialist services, including but not limited to;

  • Medico-Legal Assessments and Treatment
  • Community visits to homes, schools, colleges, gyms or other settings of your choice
  • Ongoing rehabilitation for long term conditions
  • Short term therapy for more acute conditions
  • Reports for Education Health Care plans (EHCP)
  • Training packages for carers/support workers
  • Aquatic Physiotherapy/Hydrotherapy
  • Assessments for specialist equipment such a standing frames, trikes, walking aids etc
  • Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) for Hemiplegia

What to Expect

The first assessment will last around an hour. You and your child will be asked questions including your current concerns and developmental history. We carry out much of the assessment through play, especially in the younger child so they don’t realise they are being ‘examined’.

Following the assessment, Emma will let you know her findings and what she can offer to help your child. You will make a plan and agree goals.

 It is vital we work in partnership with parents, carers and other professionals in order to achieve a childs’ goals. We encourage you to help in supporting your child’s rehabilitation by actively participating in the treatment session and their home programme.
